About this pro

I am a holistically minded canine behavioral expert specializing in training therapy dogs and all matters of basic obedience, including aggression, canine communication, separation anxiety, boundaries and rehabilitation. I have reasonable rates, and I get results! I don't just address the symptoms, I get to the root of the problem, which is where true healing begins. I have a gift of understanding dogs that I will share with you. It is my purpose in living to help the fractured relationship that we currently have with our animals.

I have and will work with any and all breeds of dogs and people with any and all kinds of issues of obedience, boundaries, aggression and communication. I love my work and all of my clients. My favorite projects are the ones when the clients are at their wits end and we begin to see changes in the dogs behavior after the first session, which happens quite often!

Karen is a gem. Experienced and knowledgeable, Karen has a holistic approach that encompasses both practical fundamentals of behavior and nutrition as well as energetic impacts, allowing her to address not only the behaviors but the causes for them. I had scheduled in home training to begin, but then the stay at home order went into effect. As a result, I elected to send my pup to the boot camp option. Karen kept my boy for two weeks and brought me back a well mannered, potty trained dog who clearly felt safe and cared for with her. Karen also provided in depth guidance to train me - and I was immediately able to see all the inconsistent and confusing messages I have been sending my pup since adopting him last summer. I feel so grateful to have found Karen and her very balanced approach. I highly, highly recommend Karen and The Bow Wow Method!!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

If you begin to implement the techniques with your dog that I walk you through step-by-step in the first session, you will see changes in your dog right away, which will give you the incentive to be consistent, follow through and mean it, until your dog relaxes, feels safe and respects you. Once you get a dog to feel safe and respect you, you can get them to do whatever you want!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an deep, innate understanding of dogs and all of their behavior that I will share with you. I have a background in psychology. My formal dog training was with "efils god training" which involved all matters of dog obedience, boundaries and how to communicate with dogs. Dogs communicate from their hearts and they need someone to respect. I will show you how to do that! I call it "No more somethin' for nothin'" and how to embody the "Pack Leader Mentality" (with a mothers' touch). I derive a lot of my methods for my mother, she was a child psychologist.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

My fee is $85 an hour. It usually takes about 3 sessions, depending on your needs and your dogs issues. We spread the sessions out over a 2 to 3 week period. When YOU change, your dog will change, so the first session is the longest. I will be educating you so you can train you're own dog. The next sessions take only 1 to 2 hours. That is all you need to have the kind of dog you have always dreamt of having! But remember, I am extremely flexible and I work around your schedule and your budget.

How did you get started in this business?

I have a unique and special connection, a true understanding and respect for all animals. Because of this "gift", 20 yrs ago, dogs began to seek me out and "talk" to me. They were asking for my help. At first I didn't understand, but now I know, this is the reason I am on the planet. It is my gift to share.... to help people have a the best relationship possible with their dogs.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

There is no quick fix, no magic pill, but it is not as hard as you may think. Dogs are like children, they need boundaries. Your dog will begin to develop self esteem as they safely explore within the boundaries that I will help you set up for them. If you are consistent, follow through and mean it, using my methods, you will have a calmer, more balanced and happier dog where everyone gets their needs met....;)

Be patient with yourselves and your dog. There is always a learning curve that should be respected and understood. I believe that there are no "bad" dogs, only those that don't understand what is expected of them and in desperate need of an authority figure to lovingly show them.
