About
I am retired after 35 years on the Los Angeles City Fire Department, where I worked as a Paramedic and a Fire Inspector of high rise buildings. I still keep my Paramedic status and teach EMTs part time at a community college. I helped to start the FEMA search dog team on the LAFD and was the canine coordinator until my retirement. I am still active on the team.
I think "outside the box" when working with dogs. Especially puppies and young dogs. It's more about training the owner!!
I have worked with dogs for over 40 years
I've trained guide dogs for the blind, herding dogs, tracking dogs, Schutzhund and my biggest passion search and rescue dogs. I have trained 7 SAR dogs.
I have ongoing puppy classes that begins at my home and then we make weekly field trips to local areas in Simi Valley.
I also teach K9 NOSEWORK, a fun and entertaining class for dogs and their owners. Even a dog sensitive dog can do this class, since all dogs are worked one at a time
I love helping others and their dogs to develop a stronger bond, a better understanding of each other and to guide people and show them how easy it is, well most of the time, to train their dogs. I really enjoy working with young pups and their owners, the pups are like balls of clay that require proper shaping. It's so important to start as soon as you get your puppy. My place is a safe place, since it is not a public place, to start the training early. Even if your puppy has not finished their vaccinations.
I work with older pups and dogs too.
I have had dogs that do not get along well with other dogs become more sociable and reliable when around other people and/or dogs. I'm no miracle worker, some very aggressive dogs are not what I work with.
Most dogs just need to be guided to know how to behave properly.
