About
My goal in working with clients is to help them realize the relationship and life they have always envisioned having with their dogs. As a concept trainer I use games to inform dogs of the principles required to present the types of behaviors their humans would like to realize. This alllows the dogs to make better decisions, and not just be obedient to or be required to have a cue offerred in order to make the best choice. I use strictly scientifically informed, evidence based approaches drawn from my education in applied behavior sciences and ethology.
Everything. The moment I found my path working with dogs, I never had to work another day. My preferred population is dogs who are in transition between humans and find themselves in a rescue or munciple animal shelter. For the first five years of my pursuit I worked only with dogs, never with humans. Eventually I realized that by helping the humans attached to the dog, I could actually have a greater impact on the population.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free evaluation session for new clients. During that time I can visit you and your dog(s), observe their behaviors and your responses and provide feedback. I will always offer some preliminary games, strategies and approaches to address you concerns during this visit as well as provide ample reference material for everything covered during the evaluation. If a training or behavior modification plan is appropriate, I will also make recommendations for services and provide information on what you may expect. Everything I cover comes with free support for life. It's always a good time for me to help your dog!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified proffessional dog trainer as well as a certified behavior consultant specializing in canine. I mentored under Jason Lake at Prodogz in Medford, OR, worked with Forrest Micke during that time, and also trained under Kaye Gayler of Go Rogue Dog Training in Phoenix, OR. Currently I serve as the behavior specialist for Grass Valley Animal Control serving Grass Valley and Nevada City. I'm an all around Dog Nerd.
