With over 15 years of experience KKDC is an award winning design firm offering all aspects of residential design.

Born in Germany and educated in Belgium, France, and Israel owner Sabine Klingler Kane brings an international flair to her designs. Besides holding a B.A. in Interior Design she also has a Master Degree in Dramatic/ Media Arts. She has worked as documentary filmmaker for numerous years. This helped her to develop strong management and visualization skills. Her passion for design, attention to detail and excellence in artistic vision have earned her multiple awards, and - more important - a loyal repeat customer base. Sabine is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) since 2002.

“Whether you are planning to remodel your kitchen, renovate your bathroom, or give any room a new look – I am committed to providing the highest level of service. It is my goal to exceed your expectations while being efficient, budget conscious and reliable. By listening to your needs and maintaining an ongoing dialogue throughout the design process, I ensure that each project is tailored to your individual design goals and style preferences. I understand that home design is deeply personal. With experience and creativity, I provide innovative designs that go beyond your imagination."

"Our homes should protect us, nurture us, and inspire us to be the best and happiest version of ourselves." In this sense it is my hope that designing your home goes beyond making it look pretty, and provides a deep sense of comfort and ease. After I am done with my work I want for you as the home owner to feel a connection to your home, and be proud of it.

Business Philosophy

KKDC stands for integrity, honesty and transparency. The designer-client relation must be one of mutual trust. Fees and pricing structures will be clearly discussed at the beginning of each project, and they will be stated in the contract. Purchases are only made upon the client's written approval. Since our fees are based on time we pride ourselves on timeliness and efficiency.

    Frequently asked questions

Typically the first step is a telephone interview to find out what the project is about, what your expectations are from the interior designer you hire as well as your style preferences. I will ask about your budget expectations, and your time line. Conversely, this first interview gives you, the home owner, the opportunity to ask me questions and find out about me.

The next steps all depend on the scope and nature of the project. The process will be completely different, of course, if you want to get custom drapes made for your master bedroom vs. get your kitchen remodeled from the ground up, just to name an example.

I have a B.A. in Interior Design from the Interior Designer's Institute in Newport Beach, CA. I am a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and as such am obligated to maintain my education by taking a prescribed number of Continuing Education Units every year.

As most interior designers I have an hourly fee. I keep a detailed time log to show and justify what I spent time on.

I moved to the US from Germany in 1998, where I was a documentary film maker, and knew it was time for a change. Shortly upon my arrival here my husband and I remodeled our home. I enjoyed this so much that I looked into how to turn this into a profession. I signed up with the bachelor program at Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach, CA, where I graduated as Valedictorian. I got my first real life jobs and projects from their job placement program, and I also became a design assistant with several O.C. interior designers. Everything else developed from there.

I have worked mostly with residential interior design clients running the gamut from business owners, doctors, clients in the financial sector, scientists, laywers, engineers, and even a TV personality with scientific books on the NY Times bestseller list, one of which he was writing during the remodel!

The advice I would give is to vet the professionals you want to hire, check on their references and reviews. But also, on a more personal level, feel them out, see if your personalities align, and if you see eye to eye on things. Any good professional designer can work in numerous different styles. But, depending on the project, your designer is potentially spending a lot of time in your home. Therefore it is equally important that you will get along with each other.

It would be nice if customers had somewhat of an idea about their budget. The professional can always give them a reality check, but at least it is a base line.
