Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our process begins with a free consultation where we come by your space, take some photos and evaluate the existing design assets of your home. We also use this time to listen to your personal aesthetics, and learn about any styles, artists, or designers you may be fond of and review any references you may have of homes and spaces you have seen and loved (either in magazines or movies or anywhere). We then provide you with a verbal evaluation of design options and offer some initial suggestions on how to make your space fabulous. Should you decide to learn more about our suggestions, we charge a fee and follow up our consultation with a detailed visual presentation based on your budget and design preferences. This presentation will include suggestions on everything from structural changes (should that be part of your request), to furniture and decor options, wall art, window dressings, landscaping, and more. This presentation will also provide you with an estimated cost of the project. At this time you have the option to book our services, request another presentation or move on to another design company. Should you decide to move forward with our services, we will provide you with a detailed calendar and an itemized budget breakdown. Upon your approval of both, we will get busy transforming your space into something unique and artistc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have years of experience in fine art, design and production. We have worked with A-level art directors and contractors and have connections with not only local, but also national and international designers and can source furniture and art pieces from anywhere in the world.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our initial consultation is free. We charge a $500 fee to provide you with a detailed presentation of our design suggestions that will include a budget estimate. Upon booking, we charge a 20% design fee on the total cost of the approved project budget.
How did you get started in this business?
Our background is in television/commercial production and fine art and design. Gogimogi started out as a fashion house and moved into design and décor in 2017. In general, we draw our inspiration from nature and the beauty if offers, although sometimes mixing urban elements with earthly ones can yield to truly enriched designs that are unique and magical.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with home owners and businesses.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently worked on a bathroom renovation project that was highly challenging. It was in a home from 1920s and many of the pipes were old and needed to be replaced. Also, the walls and baseborads were uneven and damaged and needed levelling. Our budget was very low, but we did not want to compromise on the final result. Through some creative design choices and partnerships with amazing workers, we transformed this bathroom into a fabulous space that was not only beautiful, but also updated and full of character.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
It is always helpful to know what you do and don't like. While your designer can help you achieve your vision and even help you elevate it, they are more likely to succeed if they know your preferred design aesthetic. If, for example, a classical approach is not your thing and makes you think of an old relative whose house you did not like, then make sure to voice that. If, however, you want your space to be modern with a minimalist décor that looks like a page out of AD Magazine, then make your designer aware of that as well. Also, pay attention to your own memories and experiences that made you happy. Your space should be a reflection of happiness and positivity. Surround yourself with elements that bring joy to you and your family.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
There are three things customers should be aware of going into a design project. The look they want, the time it will take to execute that look, and the money to make it all happen. They should be mindful of their own expectations and know that rushed projects often show in the results. So, if you are putting your house for sale in the next three weeks, you should be thinking about staging only, and not a major renovation.
