Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know the customer and what they and their family or business needs. It's that simple. You'd be surprised how much your wife needs that granite counter top or spa bathtub once she walks into a house that cates to her wants. It doesn't hurt when that garage or den also gives the husband space for his toys too.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a realtor and property manager. Next year I am opening my own brokerage. I have experience in markets from as far south as San Diego and Chula Vista to add far north as Salinas and Monterey.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
While there is no legal standard in real estate, commissions charged to selling clients are usually 5-6 percent.
Buyers don't pay me anything. It all comes from the selling end.
Honestly, if an agent charges the buyer for helping them find a home, find a new agent.
How did you get started in this business?
I worked in IT for a real estate office while working on my Masters and PhD. I stayed on and became an salesperson. Now I'm about to open my own office. Time flies.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My client list includes singles and families looking for their first home to coorporations looking for their next rental opportunity and retiring entrepreneurs looking to sell their businesses and retire.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
While this is probably supposed to be real estate related I'll go for personal instead. Maybe you'll get a better sense of me. Who knows?
im fond of playing airsoft with my sons and building our relationship to include testing each other's ability to work together under stress. I'm proud to have recently fought with my team in another international magfed paintball event. I'm extremely proud of my wife for taking me up on an adventure in the desert jumping hills and racing through canyons in a dune buggy.
Family is extremely important to me. Including yours.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find someone you can build a rapport with. This is a very personal business. You want someone you'd like to invite to functions later, not an agent that you can't wait to leave.
