What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The process of solar can be simple with residential homes. The amount of energy that is consumed in the year is utilized to acquire the data needed to design a solar panel PV system to cover that electricity to your desired percentage. Your billing is equally important to know your savings on the type of finance option that best works for you and your short and long term goals.
For commercial, there are other deductions that can be taken advantage of over residential such as accelerated depreciation, and other incentives, as well as the 30% ITC (Investment Tax Credit), that is afforded to residential as well.
Non-Profit 501(c)(3) entities are completely different. Without the ability to digest any tax credits and or incentives, it has become a difficult task for non-profits to acquire the help needed to reduce and control their energy costs. Eco Energy is one of the few companies that have been able to set up finance options for non-profits with no out of pocket expense and the ability to get solar, reduce and control their costs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Eco Energy holds a C-10 electrical license to be able to install solar, as well as do all the electrical work needed with electrical main panel upgrades.
As well as holding a class "B" general construction, and a class "A" general engineering license.

How did you get started in this business?
Eco Energy is a converted corporation from a sole proprietorship under Ortega R'S Construction that was created in 2002 as an electrical and general contractor services.
Through the years solar PV has been a technology that we have worked with and continue to apply innovative technology, finance options and business practices that allow our clientele to enjoy the rewards of renewable energy.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Eco Energy is proud to have worked with residential, as well as our commercial clientele.
We are happy to be able to assist our Non-Profit 501(c)(3) clientele as well.
Solar is a great solution for all of us that consume energy. The incentives that come with solar were not made with Non-Profits in mind.
This is why Eco Energy is proud to be able to offer these finance options to an industry that has been significantly underserved, when it is an industry that more than deserve the energy saving assistance that we can provide.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
All contractors need to be licensed with the CSLB and have the proper insurance to cover you, and cover them as well.
Whether general liability insurance and or workers compensation insurance, make sure you know that your contractor is licensed and insured.
Your property matters, as well as your contractor's workers.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
When it comes to solar, make certain that you know what your total energy consumption is for the past 12 months.
Then make certain you know how much you paid for the full year. Once you know this information, divide it by 12 months, so you know what your true monthly average bill is.
Once you have gathered this information, you will be equipped with the base data needed to know the facts of your own property, and that of the contractor information given.
