Repair My Deck

My education is in Information Technologies. It gives me something to do when the weather is unfavorable for outside work. My training began 25 years ago as an apprentice of a well established deck builder. I learned almost everything I know from him.... but have increased efficiency because of tools and other items that didn't exist then.

Full builds start at $15 a square foot. That includes rails and 1 set of steps. The higher the deck is off the ground, amount of obstacles to build around, and any extra features effects the price.

For repairs, pricing is $3-$5 per linear foot. The price is determined on a deck to deck basis based on the complexity of the repairs.

My high school girlfriends father was an excellent deck builder. I apprenticed with him for 3 years before going into business myself.

I work with residential homeowners

When looking for a new deck, get several quotes. When you decide on a company or companies that you like, look for unfavorable reviews. Not every satisfied customer leaves good reviews, but every unsatisfied customer will leave a bad review.

For repairs, don't go with so called repair specialists that say your entire deck needs replaced, especially if they don't fully inspect everything. If they haven't looked at your frame and makes this suggestion, they are just trying to sell you a new deck.

Really, anything you don't feel confident in doing yourself, or can't do, a professional should be consulted with. Not just my area of expertise, anything you need installed, built, serviced or repaired.
