About
In business since 1964, we specialize in deck construction and renovation, kitchen and bathroom renovation, and general residential construction. We are Trex gold pros, are EPA Lead Certified, have offices and licenses in Westchester, Rockland counties and are also licensed in the states of New Jersey and Connecticut. I also hold a New York State real estate license. You can see our work at www.decksofny.com and www.crosscountyhomeimprovement.com. Our Facebook page is: Cross County Woodworking.
I love creating spaces and seeing the homeowners' joy with the final project. My clients become part of my family and use me for their future projects.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I set an appointment to meet with the client at their home and discuss the proposed project. I determine if architectural involvement is required and suggest several local architects (also suggesting that they can use their own architect). I then review the project and provide a detailed project quotation based upon site the inspection and discussion with the home owner to determine their specific needs and desires. A review of the quote is encouraged and after being hired I generate a work contract which spells out the entire job, and responsibilities. We start the job on the agreed date and, once started, say on the project until completed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a masters degree in Human Factors Engineering from Suny New Paltz (undergraduate degree in engineering Psychology from Penn State), and have owned and worked in construction at Cross County Woodworking since 1991.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Each job is priced separately -- I tune the costing to each client's needs, preferred price range, if possible. I also defer to the client regarding any item selection (paint color, appliance type, etc.).
How did you get started in this business?
I was in research in the computer industry, then had a manufacturing business for many years, and finally decided to enter the construction industry since I truly enjoy working with my hands, making lasting creations.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with commercial customers, building banks, but prefer working with residential customers, and each job is unique and the joy of pleasing each client is quite rewarding.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Renovated a home from top to bottom for a client who recently moved into the property. We rebuilt the exterior siding, opened the living space inside the house, built a new kitchen and dining room, renovated the living room and bedrooms, and made the basement into a home office.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Get more than one estimate, check their referrals, and make sure they are licensed and insured.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Determine what they intend to accomplish and their budget window, what their time line is, and what the start date of the project should be.
