Jordan G. says, "ARRK handyman Service was hired by my company to put a 150ft wood fence in the backyard of our rental property with two gates in order to create privacy from the railroad tracks directly behind the property. Russell and his crew showed up ready to work in the middle of a snow storm when they live an hour and a half away. They had to cut down gigantic tree in order to install the fence on very uneven ground. The final product turned out beautifully! He did a wonderful job in regards to the work. However, I had to subtract one star for poor communication and follow thru. I had asked Russell to complete the project within a 3 day time span and to also stay in contact with me every morning with updates. The project ended up taking a full 2 weeks to complete and I was only contact one time with an update. He also put the front gate in an awkward spot, not where I had planned for it to go. In the end, The quality of work was so stunning that some of these other issues fell to the wayside. We would most definitely work with Russell and Arrk Handyman Services again!" Read more

Your Commercial Carpet Installation questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on HomeGuide.

How much does commercial carpet cost?

Commercial carpet costs between $2 to $12 per square footfor both materials and professional installation. Commercial wall-to-wall carpeting, which comes in broadloom rolls, tends to be on the higher end, ranging from $5 to $12 per square foot installed. This type of carpeting is ideal for large open spaces and provides a seamless look.

Commercial carpet tiles, on the other hand, are a more affordable option, typically costing between $2 to $11 per square foot installed. Carpet tiles offer versatility, easy replacement, and can create unique patterns or designs.

How is commercial carpet different from residential?

Commercial carpet is designed and constructed differently than residential carpet to withstand the heavy foot traffic and wear-and-tear of commercial spaces like offices, hotels, and retail stores.

The key differences lie in durability, materials, and maintenance requirements. Commercial carpets use denser, lower pile heights and tighter loops made from highly resilient fibers like nylon to resist crushing and matting. In contrast, residential carpets prioritize comfort and style with taller, plush piles made from softer fibers like polyester.

Does commercial carpet need padding?

In some cases, commercial carpet may be glued directly to the subfloor without padding. This direct glue-down installation is common in extremely high-traffic areas like mall corridors or lobbies. It prevents the carpet from shifting and minimizes ripples or buckling.

However, for most commercial spaces like offices, hotels, and schools, an underlayment pad is advisable to provide cushioning, extend the carpet's life, and make the flooring more comfortable underfoot.

How do I choose a commercial carpet installer?

By evaluating factors like licensing, experience, pricing, and availability, you can identify a qualified, reliable commercial carpet installer for your project.

  • Ask if the installer is licensed and insured. This protects you in case of accidents or damage during the installation.
  • Look for an installer with extensive experience in commercial carpet projects. Check their portfolio, reviews from past clients, and market reputation.
  • Inquire about warranties offered on the installation workmanship, typically 1 to 2 years. This ensures any defects from poor installation can be remedied.
  • Request a clear installation timeline and ask them to explain their installation process step-by-step. This demonstrates planning and allows you to prepare for the project accurately.
  • Get detailed quotes from multiple installers and compare pricing structures. Don't just go with the cheapest option, but consider the quality of their work.
  • Discuss the installer's current workload and ability to complete your project within your required timeframe. Delays can impact your business operations.

What questions should I ask a commercial carpet installer?

Ask potential carpet installers these questions to gauge their experience and ability to complete your project:

  • Are you licensed and insured?
  • Do you offer a warranty on the installation workmanship?
  • Can you provide references and examples of previous commercial carpet projects you've completed successfully?
  • What is the project going to cost? What does the estimate include?
  • What is the installation process and estimated timeline for completing the project?
  • Will you handle subfloor preparation like removing old flooring or leveling?
  • Are there any additional fees for moving furniture, working nights/weekends, or other potential extra costs?
  • What types of commercial carpets do you recommend based on my needs and budget?
  • How will you handle any unexpected issues or problems that arise during installation?
  • What is your payment schedule?

Reviews for Columbus commercial carpet installation companies

Recent success stories from people in the Columbus area.
PATRICIA K.
I was impressed with the team who removed the carpet from the dining and living room. They made it seem easy. The refinisher,Kristen, was focused on her work bringing my 107 yr. old floors back to life. She even made some modifications to repair the floors in some spots. She loves what she does and she’s really good at it! I called her a miracle worker more than once. Everything was finished on time and within my budget. I would have liked Phil to do a final walk through inspection. I found a doorway threshold section that still had carpet tacks and didn’t get sanded or stained. Overall, I am pleased with the work.
