Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically set an appointment for 10-15 minutes before the service they have scheduled where we meet the dog or cat and get familiar with things that may make the animal uncomfortable, as well as things that can make them feel comfortable. Our purpose is always to create a positive experience for both pet and parent to reinforce good behavior in the long run. During this time we will also talk budgets, return visits, and grooming preferences.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two years of experience as a Kennel Technician dealing in the feeding, bathing, medicating and exercising of dogs and cats ranging from a month old to 21 years old. I grew up volunteering on my mothers landlords' horse ranch, and draw most of my processes and husbandry knowledge from there. I have also been raising puppies, kittens, ducklings and scaly hatchlings since age 10.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Most baths start at $10 and move up in price depending on the size of the animal, thickness of the coat and requests for hygiene trims, gland expressions and brush outs. Our average bath runs about $15 for dogs, cat baths are by appointment only as we have to gauge the felines temperament. Playcare and Hike n Splash sessions all have one fixed price.
How did you get started in this business?
I got tired of seeing half washed dogs and razor burned puppy ears! This industry requires so much care and passion to ensure that the only memories made are good ones, and the majority of the people I have met in it almost make it their job to traumatize animals during a groom so they never want another bath!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with dog enthusiasts and families who just have the family dog out back, you don't have to obsess over Fido to want the best for them!
