How did you get started in this business?
I did a lot of training just for fun and had been asked several times if I did it professionally. I started building a name and decided to make it official.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with all types of customers. Most of my clients are family homes and want basic obedience and help with issues from improper training or lack of knowledge. I also do a lot of puppy training to help transition the puppy into a home with some basic training: ie leash etiquette, potty training, crate training, and learning their name etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a friend who has the sweetest pitbull. She rescued this sweet girl from a home that gave no training or boundaries to this dog. The dog was extremely leash reactive and would jump on anybody that came through the door. With a few sessions I was able to get the dog to be calm on the leash and to teach the dog to stay in a place when someone came to the door. My friend is estatic that she can now enjoy her dog and not worry that she will scare someone out in public
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do your research! Don't be afraid to ask the questions even if it sounds silly. If you feel in your gut that it's not a right fit for you then it's probably correct. Ask around as well see who used who.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Be detailed about your issues you are having. It's like going to the doctor, we're not going to be able to give you the best outcome if we don't have the whole picture. Trainers are not their to be judgemental they are there to help you and your dog.
