I give a lot of attention to detail. I like a job well done. If I don't know how to do something I will find out how and learn how to do it or find someone that can do it for me. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I introduce myself and ask customer to talk to me about the project. Then I ask fact finding questions and usually talk to the customer one more time before I submit my quote, giving time to customer to think about questions they may have or new ideas. Then present detailed quote and explain customer what the work will consist of step by step. When the quote is accepted sign contract when necessary and collect 50% of quoted price. Next step, schedule the date the work will start and go buy materials. After completion of work and when customer is satisfied I collect final payment and ask for review.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
i have done handyman work all my life. I worked in a yacht dealership in Miami, FL for seven years in the service department and I learned how to use tools and how to do all the repairs. Also, I had muy first house built in which I did alll the termination worik like painted the whole house and installed engineered hardwood floors, sprinklers system for the yard, soded and landscaped the yard. The house I live in I remodeled completely, changed all fixtures, knowcked down walls, installed bamboo floors through out the whole house, relocated laundry room, remodeled the kitchen and all three bathrooms. Replaced all fixtures and installed all home automation. Replaced attic door/ladder.

Generally I like to write my quotes first and present them to the customers with an explanation of my plan to complete the project. When accepted, signing a contract will be next. The contract will have description of the work to be done, prices, conditions of the contract, payment terms, description of warranty, start and end dates, etc...
After contract is signed, if additional worik is found, before proceeding, a change order will be issued and presented to customer to sign and be added as a revision to the original contract under the same terms. Is customary to try to stick to the original quoted price as much as possible.
How did you get started in this business?
It all started as a hobby helping friend and family. Everyone always complimented my work and made comments about how good my work was and kept saying that I should do it as a business. That would allow me to do what I like to do and make money at the same time and help a lot of people that needed help and could not do it themselves. I found myself unemployeed so I decided to give it a try and here I am. Now I need folks like you to hire me so that I can stay in business.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of customers, families, individuals, businesses. Happy customers and not so happy as well. I do whatever I need to do to satisfy my customers, I believe that customer satisfaction is number one priority after safety. If I were to do a job in whcih the customer is not satisfied I will stay and continue working within reasonable expectations until customer is satisfied.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Get more than one estimate when deemed necessary. Check reviews, read & sign contract. Do not pay 100% in advance but be ready to pay at least 50%. To obtain best results be flexible, corteous, respectful, fair, pay your bill and if you are pleased with the worik of your handyman, refer him or her to your friends, family and neighbors, most people can always use a helping hand.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
When planning set a budget and stick to it, always remember your budget and know your limitations. Be clear about your expectations, give detailed explanations of what you want, let the person know what is your final plan, the opinion and input from an expert is always helpful, and ask the professional what he or she expect from you. Maintain an open line of communication at all times. When planning, creating a time line is a good idea; talk to your professional about the lenght of the project, dead lines and possible interruptions. Think about how this project is gonig to affect your daily activities and how can you prevent disruptions of such activities while at the same time palnning on how ocupants may need to be managed to keep them from disrupting the progess of the project.
